The 14th death anniversary of noted poetess Parveen Shakir was observed especially in literary with solemnity and reverence.
It may be recalled that Parveen Shakir, 42, was killed in a road accident here on December 26, in 1994.
Perveen Shakir gave special feminine touch to Urdu poetry in a distinct voice of her own.
When Amjad Islam Amjad and Faraz were talking about commitment, lost love and feminine beauty, she talked about betrayal, ecstasy and masculine beauty.
It was also for the first time in Urdu literary history that someone talked about intimate sentiments regarding dolls, bangles, little girls, ponds, waterfalls, air, cloths, perfume, full moon, and husbands.
The delicacy and subtlety of feeling and emotion in Parveen's poetry made her poetry "a thing of beauty" which "is a joy forever".
Her first book, Khushboo, won the Adamjee Award. Later she was awarded the Pride of Performance.
